On December 10, 2025, the Romanian Academy awarded the prizes for the most valuable scientific and artistic creations carried out in 2023. The event took place in the Romanian Academy Hall; the prizes being awarded in the presence of the members of the General Assembly.
The Romanian Academy Prizes are the highest distinctions awarded annually for exceptional scientific and artistic creations, representing a recognition of the most important contributions to the development of national culture and science.
The “Horia Hulubei” Prize awarded within the “Physical Sciences” section was won by the fundamental work entitled “Materials and specific processes for heat transfer equipment from Generation IV fission reactors”, elaborated by Dr. Dumitra Lucan, researcher at the State-Owned Company Technologies for Nuclear Energy, the Institute for Nuclear Research (RATEN ICN) and Professor Gheorghița Jinescu from Politehnica University, Bucharest.
This distinction represents a recognition of the Romanian Academy of the strategic importance of Romanian research in the field of sustainable nuclear energy.
